First there are nightmares.
Every night Ellie is haunted by terrifying dreams of monstrous creatures that are hunting her, killing her.
Then come the memories.
When Ellie meets Will, she feels on the verge of remembering something just beyond her grasp. His attention is intense and romantic, and Ellie feels like her soul has known him for centuries. On her seventeenth birthday, on a dark street at midnight, Will awakens Ellie's power, and she knows that she can fight the creatures that stalk her in the grim darkness. Only Will holds the key to Ellie's memories, whole lifetimes of them, and when she looks at him, she can no longer pretend anything was just a dream.
Now she must hunt.
Ellie has power that no one can match, and her role is to hunt and kill the reapers that prey on human souls. But in order to survive the dangerous and ancient battle of the angels and the Fallen, she must also hunt for the secrets of her past lives and truths that may be too frightening to remember.
I bought this book for my nook when it was on sale. I have had it for a while, and just now got around to read it. I had heard many great things about the book but I just hadn’t had the time. I wish I had got to it far sooner. It was a really amazing read.
I was happy to find that this book wasn’t the average teen vampire/werewolf novel but a rather unique novel about Angels and Reapers. Angelfire was an exhilarating read that kept me on the edge of my seat. I could really kick myself for not reading this book sooner. It had romance, action, and amazing characters. I was completely engrossed in the book from the very first page, which does not happen very often.
The author does a good job with characterization. I liked the main character, though she could get on my nerves at times. She was a little high strung, but given her circumstances I guess I couldn’t really blame her. I loved the fact that Ellie, the main character, is stronger than the macho Will. Oh and Will!! I loved this character, far more than any of the other characters in the book. She made him perfect, but not too perfect; cocky, yet also humble at times; and annoying, yet sweet. I just loved his character, and the romance between him and Ellie.
This book is very well balanced. It has a really slow building romance that I just devoured, and plenty of action. The biggest plus for me was that the action scenes were well written, I didn’t feel that the scenes were rushed or vague. In fact they were so well written I felt as if I was watching the fight scenes instead of reading them.
This book is a really great read, I highly recommend it. It may seem like a huge book, but honestly It’s a really easy, and phenomenal read.
